The hot air duct from turbo charger to the intercooler "just blew off" according to Ford service rep.

Sounds like excessive pressure to me, any other ideas?

It is an '04 with roughly 7K miles, thanks.

Well, the entire point of the turbo is to force air into the engine by using the exhaust to power it...I'd say that if a clamp or something holding the hot air pipe was faulty or worn or damaged, it would let loose and the whole thing would come apart...i mean, the turbo spins about 10,000 rpm or so...I could see it happening without much trouble if something wasn't working to specs...

It's actually a recall. If you have the plastic tube next to the left battery, they should install an updated aluminum tube at no charge. There's also 2 other recalls that apply to 04 f-250 and up, 6.0 diesels. One is an injector harness inspect/repair/replace and an ebp sensor and connector update. You should have recieved notices in the mail if these apply to your vehicle. These recalls are beginning to wind down as far as repairing them in the shop goes.
