hi im new to this site. i have a problem with my truck not wanting to start if i turn the key and hold forward my truck stays on ( as long as the starter stays running). once i let go of the key so that it may return to the on position my motor stops running???????? i have2 replaced the ignition module , but this was not the problem. i am not very mechanicaly inclined so any suggestions that anyone might have will be greatly appriciated. p.s. i have an 86 f-150 with a 5.8 winsdor motor in it. this also has the original 4bb holly carb in it with a c-6 transmission.

welcome to the site, but I will be moving this to the F150 section since this section is just for the forum site itself

I've had couple of older cars and trucks that did the samething in the past, narrowed mine down to the ignition module.

i have already tride replacing ignition mod. that didn't do anything. i had the timing chain changed about two or three months ago would that have anything to do with it? i mean could the timing chain maybe loosen up enough to cause it to go out of the right timing?

try this it sounds like your getting fire as long as engine is turning my guess would be start cheap try starter selinoid and check wires attached to it since they do control what you need to make engine fire

well ihave tried something new a freind of mine told me to splice a piece of 12 gauge wire to the positive post of my batt. and then to put it on the pos.+ wire coming from the ignition module. he said to try that and see if that helped , well needless to say it worked like a dream. as long as the wire is on the +post the truck tends to stay on but as soon as i take it off the motor dies.so with that said i am wondering if the problem could be on the little ignition box that is under the dash on the steering coloum???? also thanks for all the advise people
