Alright... Project Piston Koncepts

What is it? Its the goal of putting a complete computer capable of... well... anything into a 2002 Mustang using fabrication and general designer techniques to make it seem like it came right out of the factory with it!

Now here's the kicker... fabricating a dash piece that looks like it came out of the factory like that is very hard since it seems that fiberglass/bondo is very porous and it takes a lot of bondoing and sanding to get the piece to be perfectly smooth and paintable. I'm currently in process of doing this... or rather finding the quickest and more economical way of doing this.

Here's what the dash piece is looking like right now:

The big hole is going to be the touchscreen monitor which will be the main interface with the computer. The smaller hole is for a slot load DVD/CD-RW Drive. As you can plainly see it's rather hard to do this.

Now here's the good news... I'm going to be offering kits with premade dash pieces and computer hardware and everything you need to have in order to install something like this into your mustang (yes I will work on other makes and models IF there is plausible interest).

Here's what this car computer is going to be capable of doing:
1. MP3/WMA/etc
2. DVD/DVD-R/DIVX/etc
3. GPS Navigation
4. FM Stereo
5. Media CD
6. OBDII Scanner/Monitor Hardware
7. Bluetooth Wireless Network (surf the internet while you're in your car)
8. Video games via Wireless Game Pad
9. Headunit-less operation (the touchscreen controls all)

Obviously there is no limit as to what you can do with a computer... you can tap into the onboard car system and use your computer to control anything (ie windows/locks/even a starter disabler)

This section just felt empty since there was NO posting going on... so let's get it going!

Very interesting custom work. I had done some custom mods in my last car...Integra... and it was awesome, lots of fiberglass and found that Duraglass works best for filling in the open areas after the bondo. Then just smooth it out and apply the Duraglass.sanding is very easy and looks great after painting. Keep up the good work and I (WE) would like to see the finished product.
