Most the stuff on a 1979 mustang through a 1993 mustang are interchangable right? What isn't? How 5.0s were built in a 79? are they rare? And what were the rear end options?

5.0's are most popular from the mid 80's onward. 79-83 (I think) got the "mistake" 255 CI V8. Rear end was a 7.5 Inch. Tranny usually was a C4 for Automatics, AOD for O\D Autos, and im not sure about manuals, I think a Tremec T5.....atleast in the later ones. later, Dustin

If you are thinking about going from a four cyl. to a 5.0 liter. The '87 to '92 are the stronger engines. The '93 is posted as having 5 less hp..But the '93 has the better world class T-5 5 speed. The best thing to do is to purchase a totaled mustang and go from there. That way you have every thing to make yours a V-8. From the radiator to the 8.8 rear. Think about it, you need every thing-wiring,computer,trans.,suspension,ect.... I have a freind that does this, and he said even the brake line to the rear is different. He also said that it's easy to do if you have a good doner car. Good luck!
