I've never heard of this motor tranny/combo. I don't think that you'd be happy with the power to weight ratio that it would make.

The combo for the 4 banger efi motor in the earlier rangers does exist with 4wd. Power wise is about even to the same time period for the 4 banger toyota tacomas with 4wd.
If your turbo you have is a stock to a similar engine stang from that time you arent going to get much gain just for your information. The turbos from ford for this time period werent noted for there superiority in bhp gain when added to the engine. mainly they were there to make the car sell, Although im not saying you wont get gain you might get an estimated 25 to 30 percent gain but still might not be worth the effort, Due to low horse power in four cyliners at this time.
(Note the engines in rangers arent the greatest in response to bolt-ons), For greatest compatability with replacement performance parts a newer model may be better judgement. Earlier models had the 2.3l and scarse numbers were turbo charged stock, Newer models usually dont come with the 4 banger for a 4wd but are capable to being found with more performance and power related turbo already installed, Due to tighter emission requirements and gas saving strategies from ford. turbos were favored in usage with the 4wd drive/ 4 cylinder combo.

19fordranger90; sorry to differ, but my 1980 pinto w/ t-bird turbo, was an ANIMAL! above 3k RPM.flat outrun a 300zx. no known limit to topend. barrel-o-monkeys fun too! i would not use it in a 4X4 though[no real torque]. i never heard of a factory turbo ranger.

I had a '84 Ranger 4x4 with carburetor 2300 'Pinto' motors as I call them, they just weren't the same back then and after my wife wasted the forth one and spun all the bearings I took it all out and put in a chevy 327 . The four wheel suspension held it up real nice. No four wheel drive, though. I wish I had the 2300 I have now, it has 200,000 and still going pretty good.
They put a rear main seal in that actually works and roller rocker arms and they last forever.
