I bought a 2005 Ford escape last april. Because of my job (sales) I travel alot and already have 34000 miles. It is coming to the point of whether or not I should spend 1500 on extended warranty.I spoke with a dealership (not the one I bought the car at) and asked them about the fine print. If anything were to go wrong with the car I have to provide proof that it was maintenenced according to there specifications (not a big deal) and if something went wrong while pulling a trailer I would have to prove it wasn't over the towing limit. It seems like alot of hassle for alot of money, but it is nice to take it to the dealership and say "fix it" without paying! There have been 2 problems: when I put gas in my car it shuts off like it is full just after starting. The dealer said they fixed it but it is still doing it-will take it back. 2nd problem: had some vibration when put on brakes, took to dealer 3 times-1st and 3rd time said nothing wrong, the second they changed the rotors and brake pads. These are minor problems and I LOVE this vehicle, drives awesome and has great gas mileage for an SUV (25 average!). What I would like some input on is: has anyone had any issues after the original warranty wore off, were there any discrepencies with the dealer to fix anything after you purchased the extended warranty, and how much value does it really add when I go to trade this car in? Any input would be appreciated.

The wife & I got a 05 Escape also. We got the ext warranty. From what the dealer tlold us, Ford started a thing back awhile ago,
If you don't use your warranty you get your money back. And it is in writing. Go ahead and get it.
