i just bought a 1997 ford explorer with about 80,000 miles on it. It has run fine for the two weeks i have owned it until a few minutes ago. The engine won't start now. I turn the key and the starter rolls over but the engine won't. The lights come on the radio works, all electrical components seem fine, so i'm not sure its the battery. I believe it may have something to do with the anti-theft system but i cant be sure. any ideas?

if you can remember, if there was a passanger in your vehicle since the last time you drived it, i am pretty sure it is the fuel line underneath the dash on the righthand side. It has happened to me on the highway and it just shuts the engine off and the only way to start it up is to reconnect the fuel line. It will try to crank over but it wont untill that is plugged back together. hope that helps!

I dont think so unless you have a big puddle of gas under your truck.

the gas wont leak on the floor or ground, it just doesnt flow anymore and you can go no where. no gas leaks when the line is disconnected from underneath the dash.

what you want to find under your dash, actually on the fire wall on the passenger side is called a" inertia cut off switch" or somthing like that it can trip the fuel system and shut it down usually in the event of a impact. im not sayin this is what wrong with your car but thats the part under the dash everyone is talking about more or less. press the reset botton and hope it starts...good luck
