My dad want's to rebuild/upgrade his 460 which is in his 88' F-250 4x4. The question is what are the best upgrades for this motor to gain more hp and torque? My dad uses this truck for pulling his 28' boat and this last summer the motor started leaking oil and does not seem to have the same amount of power it used to. Any suggestions to make this motor better than new so that he has awesome power would be greatly appreciated. What is better EFI or carb for MPG? Currently it is EFI.

The EFI would get better MPG for sure as far as power headers, an Edelbrock performer cam, and having the ECM reprogrammed by JET performance should wake the truck up considerably but remember if you get mew headers get mew exhaust with it or you won’t gain much power. I would go duel 2.5” exhaust to a 50 series flowmaster with duel 2.5 inlets and a single 3” out.
