Hey motivators,
When I first start my vehicle the oil pressure gauge says zero. After a few minutes (once the vehicle has warmed up) the oil gauge pops up to the middle. Any suggestions to look at before I have to take it to the dealer. Thanks for any help.

hmmmm....

it is hard to say. what kind of vehicle do you have. i have a 2000 ranger and the oil gauge will snap right up to were its supposed to be right away when i start it. i really dont know what to tell you just call the dealer and ask to talk to someone in the garage or something and ask them.

It could be a bad gauge - BUT it could be a bad oil pump!

If your oil gauge is right, your motor is done for. But it does sound like gauge is bad.

Roger that all. Thanks for the advice. Its a 2001 Explorer Sport. I will call the dealer and find out. I wrote an email to Ford but they have yet to respond.

Hopefully not too late. The pressure sending units have troubles on those. There's a tsb for it. It can cause fluctuating gauge, inop gauge, high reading gauge and anything else you can think of. I'd change out the oil pressure sending unit before doing anything else. It's about 15-20 bucks so probably the cheapest repair and a good place to start since it's a known problem

try using a lighter weight oil maybe. instead of using 10w 30 or something like that try using 5w30 or something

I bought my 1993 Explorer from my mechanic and he put in a oil pressure/ Air Fuel mix gauge in the A-Pillar and he said that the one in that's in the dash doesn't represent the pressure accurately.
