The Ford Falcon is a car that has been produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1960 model year. Ford has manufactured the Falcon in a variety of places such as the United States, Canada, Argentina, Mexico, Australia, Chile, and Australia. Currently, Australia is the only country in which the Ford Falcon is still produced. If one would calculate the sales of the Falcon in every country in which it was sold, the Falcon would defintely be one of the best selling vehicles in history.
When introduced, the Falcon was Ford's answer to the need for cars to become less cumbersome to those driving them. All of the auto manufacturers were realizing a need to scale back on the size, and the Falcon did just that. The Falcon was equipped with a 2.4 liter straight six with a single barrel carburetor. The Falcon could seat six passengers and provided a comfortable ride. When the Falcon hit the maret it was available in two and four door sedans or two and four door station wagons. Eventually, a convertible would be offered as well.
The Falcon sold really well, but the phenomenal sales of the Ford Mustang cut into the Falcons consumer base. Ford continued to produce and sell the Falcon, but it was not selling nearly as much. The final year for the Falcon in the United States was 1969 as it just could not compete with the Mustang and a variety of other vehicles. The Falcon continues to be produced in Australia today.
