The Ford Freestar, produced by the Ford Motor Company is a minivan that was introduced to the public in 2004. The Freestar replaced the aging
Windstar in the
Ford lineup and Ford was hopeful that the Freestar would be received by the public quite well. Ford made a big deal about the Freestar being an "all new" model but in reality the Freestar was simply an updated and upgraded
Windstar minivan. The Freestar is a suitable name for the Ford company as they currently have a strategy to name all of their vehicles with words that begin with the letter F.
Attractive to families and people with all different needs, the Freestar is able to seat up to seven passengers. Equipped with a four speed automatic transmission and your choice of gasoline powered V6 engines. The engine choices are a 3.9 liter or 4.2 liter which both offer plenty of power for this minivan. Unfortunately, the Freestar hasn't been the big seller that Ford was hoping for in the United States, but it is selling quite well in Canada. It's common knowledge that Ford plans to replace the Freestar with a stylized three row sport wagon in 2008 that will actually be a retro Ford Fairlane.
