I have a 1991 ford f-150 5.8l And i put a ten inch infinity powered sub woofer in it.I powered it with 4 ga. wire.andmy firstone 75 amp alternator went to hell.. So i put a 80 amp alternator it had good charging for a week and now it is not that great. what could the promlem be to cause it to draw that much power. And weaken the alternator.

well i have a ford expedition with two eclipse 15's with a 1000 one channel mono d-class amp which takes alot of power and it runs fine and have it just powered by the battery and alt. so you might have a loose ground wire and depends how you have the wires ran i wire cars all the time and you having a 5.8L you shouldnt be havin the problem my friend has the same one and its in a Volkswagon gulf so you should take it in
