Great looking car. I've always liked that body style the best
for Torino's... best |
Thanks Sanddoc, nice of you to say. Me too although I like 72's also
|
there was a 70, yellow convertible with black roof around here a few years ago..
I'd see it in a parking lot when I was heading up to my shop... what are you running? Any plans for upgrades? |
I am kind of a purist in the sense of not altering the car from its original build. I think I wd like to add louvres to the rear window but it requires drilling into the window molding and that puts me off...call me crazy.
I did change the cam profile and did a valve job when doing the engine bay. Its a 429 scj...automatic with console and buckets. The interior is as it was when I bought the car. soeedo shows 87k which I believe is the original miles. I have had the car since 2004...and put about 500 miles per year on it....just to keep it running right. Its a great running car and is a head turner...you almost never see Torino Cobras around especially big blocks. Since the car has no badging on it other than a few cobra emblems a lot of folks dont know its a ford....makes it a good conversation starter.. |
your correct, don't go drilling holes, although the louvers look cool..
The Torino was a much smoother car then the Chevy Chevell of the time... To bad Ford never made the King Cobra.. with that dropped front nose.. The 385 series is like the only block that was built biger, then destroked that I can think of. Usually a block is desgned and manufactured, then they start boring and or stroking it... On the 429, you can't beat the look of the Boss heads\valve covers, so cool Best |
Good car, nice job !!
|
IC there is just about the same car at Auction during the Ford Carlie show
later this month. Saw it on the Mustang 360 site or someplace.. |
It WD be interesting to see that car and what it sells for. I have thought about selling mine from time to time...I'll see if I can find it.
|
Nice iron...:)
"I think I wd like to add louvres to the rear window but it requires drilling into the window molding and that puts me off" Have you thought about using 3M double sided tape to install louvers? Just a thought. |
