Old 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 Coupe Price?
 

I found this old 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 Coupe 2 door that's been parked and untouched for 5 years. I checked it out and there's no dents, and little rust, but the interior is pretty much shot; covered in dust and webs. Everything works on it and this is my dream car. The guy wants $2,000 for it. And I just don't know what the value is. I'm planning on restoring it over a few years. Any thought or opinions? Any help would be appreciated.

Straight body is good, rust you can invest heavy in if you have to sub it out.. Do you do your own body/paint?

What engine? has a factor in value. Glass, dash, brite work conditions?
I love the body style, but they don't command really high dollars, so, given the interior, rust, I'd go over with a fist full of 'Franklin's' and work on him some. You can always come up! or, make an offer (showing the cash) and let him stew on it for a few days. If he doesn't move from his price, up the ante 'some'..

Money is tight right now, and if he's actively trying to sell it, he may have to bend. The more you save, the more you have to put into it to make your dream.

Thanks! That helps a lot. It has the original 390 motor with 105,000 miles on it. The glass is perfect. The dash is really good. I don't do my own paint. Only the work. This guy is in no hurry to sell it, that's why it's been there for 5 years. So he's firm on the price. I can try to haggle a bit and see what happens.

If it's really a buildable car, meaning all the 'hard to find parts' that usually equate to cash are in good shape, and its one you've always wanted to do, or plan to keep it for some time then another way to look at it is whats a few hundred bucks! If it's a bit of a time capsule, meaning not altered too much from stock if that's a concern, then these are the cars I like to build.

Depending on the level of restoration, some to most times you put more into the build then the the value unless it's a really desirable or low numbers car. The passion of the project is really job1.. I did a 70 MACH I some time back that the owner was letting rot away in his yard. Gonna fix it some day!! is what he said. I kept up the offer and he finally caved and realized it was time. The longer it sits, the worse the condition becomes if left to the elements and time. Not all older iron keeps increasing in value with the passing years, to a degree though. Without seeing it, if its fairly complete, not too molested, then I'd shoot for 1500.00. Not an insult, and may be a place he would feel comfortable to start if he seems firm. Fan out 15 Franklin's in front of him. He may bite, and its looks good too :)

Yeah, pretty much all of the hard to find parts are there and in good condition. Honestly, this car is a beauty. It's been kept under a tent and covered by a tarp for the 5 years. It's 100% orginal. It runs and pretty much only needs interior and paint for now. Thanks for the advice. I'll fan out those 15 Franklins and tell him my terms and see what happens. :)

The dust, webs, shot interior, and sitting for 5 years painted a more of a car 'in need'. Sounds like it may be a diamond in the rough.. Always worth a chance at a savings, but not at a risk of loosing it if it has your name all over it ;)
