Road Draft tube

Hey all

My 56, has a road draft tube. I'm looking for a way of getting that gas
back into the intake manifold, any suggestions?
Best

You may recall that the PCV system took care of that. Generally clean fresh air went into a valve cover on one side of a V8 and the other side had a hose with a PCV valve that allowed the fumes to be drawn into the intake. It was a novel idea that resulted in unexpected benefits , among which were less engine wear.

Hello Hanky
Yes I know that. what I want to know is it possible to get the draft tube
gases to recirculate back into the intake?
the oil fill on these older cars will provide the fresh air into the crankcase
If I put a spacer under the Carb with a vacuum port it will take the gases and
suck them into the base of the carb to be further burned. Any thoughts on that?

You will need to block off the road draft opening and you may need to try a few pcv valves to get the correct flow. Keep in mind the vapors are warm and rise to the top of the engine and I believe you will get better results altering the valve cover for the vacuum side.

So here is what I did, following what some other have done.
I pulled the tube out, then I found a PCV grommet that fit the short neck that come
out of the intake valley. then attached the pct valve and ran it into the vacuum port
on the back of the carb plate...
Seems to work fine..
BTW this car is not a Ford, it's a 56 Packard, most and I should say few of us who
own Packards need to reach out to the other makes to see what people have done
and what they are doing. I prefer the Ford forums.
I do have a 62 country sedan wagon..
the Packard is also getting Disc brakes from a 79 F150..
