Engine Swap

Hey all, I currently have a 79 F100 with a rebuilt 300 inline 6cyl. I have an opportunity to acquire an 82 Bronco that has a 302 (4x4). Are these engines swapable? or is the front crossmember gonna get in the way?

RE: Engine Swap

I got the vehicle from a friend for free. This guy took care of the drive-train very well. From what he told me he had it rebuilt about 47,000 miles ago. It starts and drives. The only thing I replaced on the engine is the thermostat and housing. Unfortunately, the housing that is on it was new and I broke it. I tried to bolt it onto the block when one of the "ears" broke because I wasn't paying attention, the thermostat was misaligned and upon tightening the bolt, snapped it. I had a professional welder fix the ear and he planed the housing and now it does not leak. The water pump may need to be replaced and a little carb work, I have a hard time getting it to stay running in first gear when the clutch is released. It idles great and once moving, purrs (and ticks, from what I understand is natural for Ford). Also, if interested, the three on the tree is perfect. That too was rebuilt and has zero slop. The whole drive train can go too. I have a line on a '82 Bronco project.

Let's talk. Thanks for the mail.
