'00 SVT major start, hesitation, stall problem
Greetings, new 86k Contour SVT owner-
Besides the above, it finally threw P1132 and P1152 codes. I see a new fuel pump / filter... any specific pointers to minimize diag? Testing components? Specific vac lines, etc? When it runs, it's a hoss, would love to get in shape asap. Thanks! |
I would pull one or two plugs and see what they look like.
If the system is trying to overcome a lean condition by continuing to add fuel confirm , no severe vacuum leaks, ie intake gskts , hoses etc. MAF sensor could be sending false info. Check PCV system. |

20 degrees in the garage, I'll let it run (I hope) for a bit with the French drain hoses stuffed onro the pipes, out under the door and mess around. Being an optimist, I am looking forward to a hoot in this new toy! Had Focus SVT's, now this one...

Black plugs
Cleaned MAF, TB, IAC, now won't idle or rev. Plugs are black- full rich? What did I break?

Sometimes when we unplug the MAF sensor and it seems to run better that could mean defective MAf sensor. Unplug it with key off and expect to get a check eng lite.

There's something else very amiss, so the diagnosis continues. it barely runs, won't rev. I'm thinking fuel, as I nursed it up on the wheel ramps, it sounded fine for a bit! Fuel gauge went from 1/4+ tank to E and fuel light lit. The seller claimed he replaced the pump and filter, so that's my next project. -Tom |

Cleaned TB and ports, new gasket, new plugs, dielectric applied, cleaned MAF, checked vac hoses, reassembled carefully. After all that: Blowing rich, rough idle; secondary's open, revs, stumbles, then bogs ... After running (then stalling) a few times: TPS P0122 MAF P0102 VSS P0500 Note that fuel light is on, but not empty . |
