window crank regulator

window crank regulator
1998 Ford Contour. The driver's door window will not roll down without stopping frequently. There is no problem cranking up the window. I have looked on Ebay at some photos for the window regulator. Is this going to be the source of the problem? What have people paid to have the window regulator replaced? I would like to remove the inside door panel, and of course would appreciate any free photos or diagrams available on the internet. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Has anyone tried to get Ford to repair this defect of materials and workmanship without charge to the customer?
Have a nice holiday with your Ford. Not all Ford cars have been such a problem. I loved my 1976 Pinto station wagon and drove that car until the engine died in ......1992.!!!

RE: window crank regulator
yep sounds like the window reg. is bad , pretty straight foward remove door panel , remove any bolts , rivets holding the reg. in place an work it outta the door after you have removed the window from the track, its easier to push the window to the top an secure it with 2 sections of duck tape placed on the outside of the glass , laid over top of the door an then stuck to the inside of the glass.
With it being a 98 I think its probaly outta warranty .
