1990 Ford Crown Victoria Wagon parking brake cable disconnected
 

Hello,
My 1990 Ford Crown Victoria Wagon's parking brake cable disconnected from somewhere
inside. I now see the cable down near the parking brake pedal, but I do not know where to hook the eye of the cable back onto. I have a repair book, but it doesn't really have a picture to guide me. Would anyone possibly know where I have to hook the end of this cable to? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. I am actually looking for a photo of where the e brake cable connects to the e brake pedal under the dash. I already disconnected the cable from under the car as in the photo you pm me. The e brake cable some how got disconnected from inside of the car(pedal) and I am trying to connect it again and cannot see where to connect it.

Your best bet would be to remove the parking brake pedal assy. Then you probably will be able to figure out how it attached.

Using a mechanics mirror I found the take up wheel. Its a black plastic looking wheel with a cut or grove on its edge where the cable runs along. This wheel is furthest away from you when reaching up under the dash. A half moon type cut out will be at the end of the groove facing rear ward where the cable head will fit into. Pull up some slack on the cable while its disconnected under the car driver side door, lay it into the grove while holding the brake pedal as high as you can fit the cable top into its cutout and pull back the slack from underneath. The only thing is, now I'm too afraid to use the brake. I have to pass an inspection this month and I'm afraid that this might have been caused by a sticking cable inside the front conduit.
