2006 Crown Victoria fast idle, flooding probs

Just bought a 2006 used Crown Victoria with 13,000 mi.(have a 1997 Grand Marquis which was a salvage car and has been great). Ever since I gotthe Crown Vic, on start up, it does a fast idle to 1500 rpms and stays there for about 45 secs. Then it gradually goes down to normal, 1000 rpms.
Also, after sitting overnight, when I first start it up, it is flooded. If I hold the gas pedal down, after about 15 secs., it will start. Had a remote car starter installed. Often car will not start with that -- remote automatically tries about 4 times, then gives up. I must then go out and physically start the car. The dealership has been unable to figure out the problem-- they put in the remote starter. Any help is appreciated--they said they would try whatever suggestions I could discover. Still under warranty for now. I am VERY frustrated, since it has been back to the dealer 3 times now. Thanks!

RE: 2006 Crown Victoria fast idle, flooding probs

Thefirst part is the high idle 1500 to 1000 and that's normal for engine warmup (maybe a touch high on the speed though). The car can't be flooding unless the injectors are shot and I guarantee they're not. Yours is a computer sensor problem most likely. Your remote starter isn't designed for repeated starting most likely so no big surprise there either. If you get the computer sensors on the engine checked you'll find your main problem withthe hard starting in the morning should stop. Have the air filter and speed sensor checked (a dirty filter can allow less air and more fuel on startup).
