Help.. Fuel Smell!

I have a 98 Crown Vic interceptor.. 148k miles.. It runs great except I can smell fuel now.. Not sure where, I've looked.. Only thing I notice is a hose on the drivers side hanging down by the tank.. It gets bad, I can smell it in the house when the car is in the garage.

RE: Help.. Fuel Smell!

If you have any lose fuel lines secure them; it's possible your connection to your filter is leaking; Ford filter line coupling shave to be mated tight prior to the plastic retaining clip being installed. I leaked a half a tank of gas out of a Ranger I had years ago, on a military base, I'm lucky I didn't get charged with environmental cleanup fees. hehe That's a lesson I learned the hard way. You really need to check the entire line, and espcially your hanging line by the tank. When you secure the lines I would check your O2 sensors to make sure it's not running rich. If 1 of your O2 sensors dies, it can run rich to the point of excess gas flowing through the exhaust manifolds into the cats, and aside from poor performance, 20% waste in fuel, it smells like a texaco station..
