1993 E150 w/302 engine
I have a 1993 Winnebago conversion van, 302 engine with 149K miles on it and have been offered a 1986 302 engine, completely rebuilt and ready to drop in. My question is: Is this engine completely compatible with my 1993 intake and electronics if I were to want to make this switch? What would be the worst case scenario? The engine is free, he just rebuilt it and his oldest daughter totalled the pickup it was in and I have done numberous favors for him in the past so he offered it up to me. Just sort of wondering out loud if it would work in my 93. Any comments?
I just located a Motorcraft longblock for a 1991 E150 that is still in the shipping crate. Is this engine completely interchangeable with all the intake and exhaust, electronics, etc. on my 1993 E150? Guess I am asking if its a plug-in for my very tired 93 Winnebago conversion van. It has served me well for 147K miles, still doesn't use any oil but I want it to be reliable so I have this opportunity to pick this engine up at cost, but I would only buy it if it is directly interchangeable for me. Anyone with some comments?
Would be a direct fit.
Not an HO long block though, correct?
If the 93 was well cared for and serviced, I'd bet it still has quite a bit of life left. Any work done to the 93 other than services ect? Own it since new?

I am the second owner but I bought it from a friend of mine that was the original owner. I bought it with 92K on it and have faithfully maintained the old girl as I really, really like the van. Lately it is a school bus for my grandson and gets about 75 miles a day on it though. The engine has never been touched except for water pump and plugs, wires, filters, etc. Unfortunately it has an oil pressure issue that is worse than I imagined in that when it first started showing low oil pressure, I noticed the sending unit had a leak in the body of it so I replaced it and told the counter guy at Napa to be sure he sold me a sending unit for my vehicle with an oil pressure gauge, not a light. So, he said the one he got out for me was the right one and I installed it, ran it for about 7500 miles, 3 oil changes worth, and the gauge always showed right straight up and down, with the needle between the R & the M on NORMAL. Should have been a clue, huh? So, lately the gauge has been darting towards O and back to its normal place and then I heard the lifters. Way too late in my estimation. Suddenly the sun showed through the clouds in my mind and the rest is history. I am sure I could rebuild it as good or better than new, however, I just turned 73 today and not looking forward to that task. My older brother actually located the 91 engine and told me about it so that is the way I am leaning. I have a few other FoMoCo's in my fleet: 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis, 2000 Mercury Mystique, 1992 F350 dually crewcab diesel, 1988 E250 camper van, 1993 Mark VIII, 1990 Fleetwood Limited 37', and last, but not least, my 1963 Austin Healey 3000, totally restored. All of these are maintained to the nth degree. Bugs my wife to death, thats why I enjoy doing it! And, to answer your question: No, its not an HO, it was ordered specifically for a 1992 E150.
Probably not, my wife (jokingly I hope) says that I will probably be buried with my Healey, Old Blue, and aptly named as it wears 40 coats of candy apple blue applied by me 44 years ago. But, thanks for the offer!
Got a question for anyone out there!! What type of head is on the "screw" as it is called in the Ford manual, in the inside middle hole of the plenum on my 1993 5.0 E150? I have tried hex keys, phillips, and torx, can't seem to even come close to making it come out. I can see it and it is round on the outside of the head, that is all I can tell about it. Need some help!
I got it, it takes a 40 torx, guess I didn't have it quite lined up or something the first go at it, but its off now and am proceeding to pull the pan and have a look inside before I give up on the old girl.
