1996 E350 keeps blowing fuse number 12
 

Hi all, working on 1996 ford E350
and it keeps blowing the 20amp number 12 fuse,
i took of the plastic step on the driver side door and one wire was melted all across the width of the door, tracing it, to the front of the door, its crimped on a thicker wire, i cut the wire, inserted the fuse again, but it still looks shorter out,
can anyone tell me what that wire is doing?
seems like its going to the remote door opener according to a drawing i found on
web, but this van never had remote opener or keyless entery, but has power locks and its sharing that fuse number 12, so they dont work either.
could anyone tell me what i could do to fix it?

Unless you can get hold of a wiring diagram , you could trace the color wire that was melted and see where it goes or maybe see where it was shorted to ground.
The fact that it is melted indicates a definite short to ground somewhere.
It maybe was a supply to the master power lock switch assy in the driver's door.
Are you sure of the fuses function, since 20 amps is not a lot of power for electric door locks. Could you be chasing the wrong circuit?

hi, i repaired the wires, they were melted all the way to the anti-theft plug behind the driver seat, fuse no longer blows, but the power locks dont work, found a melted switch at passenger side, clipped the b/w wire and think pink and orange one,
but now the driver side switch doesnt work anymore, so im on manual lock now.
the antitheft module, power door locks and memory lock module are on that circuit so it must be the correct one.
