2003 E 250 4.6 timing issue w/ starter click can’t turn crank by hand
ok, I bought a 2003 E250 van. It had a little rattle, at first I thought it was a tensioner pulley. After a few months it got louder one day. Not gradually, all at once. It was they way for 2 days. I knew it needed addressing but it wanted it before I could get to it as while I was driving it shut down completely instantly. I immediately thought it was the timing chain on the passenger side. The tow truck driver tried to turn it over and got only a click like a bad starter. I stripped the motor down to the timing chain, and the passenger side chain guide was broken and the chunks were there, it the timing chains were still on and look like they are in time, but I can’t be positive. I can’t rotate the crank by hand to get the timing marks to where they are supposed to be.
Any suggestions? I was thinking of loosening the cams and or taking spark plugs out to make the engine able to turn to get the timing marks right?
please help if you have any good input?

You have quite a bit of work ahead. It's unfortunate it could not have been checked earlier, water under the bridge so to speak.
If pieces got into the oil pan and plugged the oil pick up , you might be looking at another engine, let's hope not.
If you would , let us know what you find after doing what you are planning to do.
Thanks.
