84 e-150 302 2 barrel to 4 barrel carb

Hello,
I was wondering how hard it would be to switch from a 2 barrel to a 4 barrel carb. I work on a farm and am doing a lot of towing now of trailers. This van has 120,000 miles on it. I am pretty sure I would need a new intake manifold. Would intake and carb off of a mustang with 5.0 work? Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

Just talking out loud I have not actually taken off the 2 barrel currently on it to see the intake manifold. But from my research so far it looks like I could possibly use the existing manifold and just slap a new carb on? I guess I would have to look at the fuel pump too

So I am going to go for it I just ordered this intake manifold from a junk yard off of an 84 Mustang. It was 50 dollars with shipping.

I am thinking of going with the

except now I am trying to figure out how to hook it up to an AOD transmission..I will see what I can come up with.

Thanks, The carb I actually got is a 9834 - 3 it was a core return got it for around 50 dollars. I have it apart on my dining room table as we speak I will probably be working on it for the next two weeks. We are hardcore planting right now so not a lot of time.

you need to watch out for year model changes with the intake mounting bolts. and to hook up the aod tranny there should be a kick down rod going from the throttle down to the side of the trans.

Well I got the intake and holley the engine sounds great and there seems to be no oil leaks. Now, I need to figure out the AOD rod I did buy this
Holley Part No. 20-41 - Carburetor Linkages

Thinking that I needed it. I am just not sure yet any hints? I was looking at the lokar hi tech cable, but has anyone gotton the Rod to work?

where your throttle cable is hooked up there should be a tab that works with the throttle on the same side and it should have some free play in it that's where your kick down rod hooks onto the carb. It also tells the trans. when to shift

Here is the picture of what I have. Cable is for throttle and rod is for tranny.

Here is a thought, if I stabilize the inner plate by adding a screw with lock nut on the bottom right to mobilize it, then add the extension that I bought I should be good, is that a bad assessment? there would be the chance of the screw coming undone and the transmission not working.
