96 e-150 fuel problem
 

I'm new to the forum been reading related problems to mine.
What seams to be a fuel pump but when removed and jumped to 12v runs non stop. When plugged in key turned on it runs @ 2 sec & stops checked power to pump when key is turned on w/o pump power stays when pump is plugged in key is turned on @2 sec there is power then it stops - no power.

I read about bad grounds bad computers already tried different relays even a new one still the same results. Tried a new pump does all the same.

Anyone with a suggestion?

Isn't that the normal priming cycle? My 2 vans do the same -- pumps run about 2 seconds and stop, but then will resume when you are cranking the motor -- and you just cannot hear it. But if it does not start?, other issue? weak pump, plugged fuel filter, better starts if some slight pedal?, other things? hopeful others with more experience will chime in.

There are some folks that can immediately determine the fuel pump is the problem, but I'm not one of them, I have to use a fuel pressure gauge. Not knowing how many miles are on the vehicle, exactly what the symptoms are and suggesting the fuel pump is defective, I call shooting from the hip. You might hit it and you might not.
From what you have described, the pump is operating as it is supposed to. What we don't know is how well it is operating and you really need to know the pressure and the volume. The pressure is easy to check with the proper gauge and most times that is usually the problem. Could you tell us a little more as to what the symptoms are and why you feel it may be the fuel pump?
