Air Bag Error Code - help needed

I have a 94 E150 Van 5.0 with only 22K miles. It is setup for a wheelchair.

The air bag light blinks a code of 5-1. Five blinks followed by 1 blink. I was hoping someone here could
tell me what the code means and how to proceed.

Any help is much appreciated.

I have the same 5-1 code on my 1994 Thunderbird. Anybody know what it is? Thanks.

Diagnostic Trouble Code 51 is the 'Air Bag Diagnostic Monitor' internal/thermal fuse has blown.. The fuse is integrated to the monitor and not servicevable part.. It generally will blow if there's an 'intemittent' short to ground on the deployment wires and if the monitor senses the short can keep from a possible unwanted deployment by the fuse going open.. Was code 13 or 14 flashed as well? They may help to point to a short area..

Now what?

It just blinks the error code 51. ALL THE TIME!! It's very distracting at night. I've been tempted to try to disable the airbag system but due to Murphy's Law that's probably not a good idea. Plus Murphy was an optimist. Thanks.

Airbag diagnostic monitor replacement

On my 1994 Thunderbird, all research points to a blown internal fuse in the Airbag diagnostic monitor. It has always just shown a 51 code. I have never seen a 13 or 14 (which indicates a short that would cause the monitor to blow it's own internal fuse.) I found that the monitor part number is F2DZ14B056A and the price is $313.88 retail. Unfortunately, I'm also told that part has been discontinued and is no longer available.

So how can I fix my airbag system? (...and get rid of that flashing dash light.)

94 T-Bird SC code 13 airbag light

Can anyone verify that this means that the airbag monitor is out. How expensive of a fix is this if the parts are available or is there a way to just shut the light off?

Thanks for the help.
