changed fuel filter and now engine stalls
hi all -
I have an 1996 E350 7.3L Powerstroke with a two tank system controlled by a Pollack 6 port switch today i switched the fuel filter on the auxillary tank and primed it with a quart of ATF. since then the system has been stalling regardless of which tank i'm using. for a while it seemed that pressing the accelerator would prevent the stall - like if i was idling at a light i could switch to park and rev the engine. but it got progressively worse and it kept stalling more and more - just barely got it home. my guess is that air got into the system somehow but I do not know how to go about bleeding it out. we are supposed to be going on a trip tomorrow so any suggestions appreciated. |
Why did you use ATF instead of regular diesel fuel ?

it was reccomended to me once by a mechanic friend. said it helped clean out the engine a bit.

There is an expression of "Too much of a good thing".
If it ran well before the possible overdose of a good thing you might try to get as much as possible of the ATF out of the fuel lines and filters and see if that helps. Just try to fill the fuel cavities and replacement filters with clean diesel fuel and make sure no addl air is allowed to get in there. |
