Unhappy coolant leak

My 2001 E-150 w/ 4.6 is leaking coolant from between the engine and transmission. Can't tell if it's a gasket, crack or plug. Any ideas? thank-you

Unless you already did this, remove the doghouse (interior rear engine cover) and get a better look at the area. It could be coming from the front top of the engine and getting blown toward the rear which is lower and appear to be coming from the back of the engine. Depending on what you find there will determine your next move. What would help if you can't be sure, would be to get hold of a cooling system pressure tester and pump the pressure in the cooling system up to no more than 15 psi and that may help pinpoint the source.
