E-450 bus conversion AC questions.
Hi all!
I have a 2000 E-450 cutaway bus (7.3L diesel) that originally had the AC condenser and fans mounted on the roof with no engine mounted condenser. I removed that system to make room for the RV conversion and now I'm working on restoring the AC system back to a "normal" van (front only) AC. I've removed the old rear hoses and installed a new condenser in the engine compartment and also replaced the accumulator/dryer, the orifice tube and one of the low pressure hoses. The old system was holding pressure when I removed it and the old orifice tube was squeaky clean. The AC sticker inside the hood is for the old roof mounted system so I can't use those specs. I'm getting ready to recharge the system so what I need to know is the amount of oil and refrigerant to add. Also, is it best to remove the compressor and drain/replace the old oil or can I just add new oil by opening the low pressure return hose and pouring in the new oil before vacuuming and recharging? Thanx! Rick from Farmington |
I found the specs on another site.
44 ozs of R134a refrigerant 9 ozs PAG 46 oil. Draining and replacing the compressor oil is the preferred method. |
