E-450 Transmission Mounted Parking Brake

I have a 2003 E-450 Super Duty with the 6.8L Triton V10 that was converted to a handicapped bus. I just purchased it and had to get a Maryland safety inspection. The mechanic said the parking brake assembly that is inline with the transmission needs to be replaced to pass inspection.

They wanted to order the part for $1,400 but I just don't have that kind of money and am trying to find a cheaper source. The mechanic said the part is F8UZ-2598-AB but I can't find any info on that number. I was told by a Ford supplier that the part number is F81Z-2598-BA.

However, after a bit of research I found a source that says part #F5TZ-2598-C would also work for this vehicle and I can get this part for $800. I was hoping someone would be able to provide some input. A few suppliers are giving me contradicting information about the compatibility. Also, if anyone knows a mechanic that rebuilds these that would be a useful option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not positive on this, but One of the sites stated that there is now a kit to rebuild this monster since there are quite a few around now and the problem is coming out.
Evidently it doesn't require much of a leak to render the bearings shot. I guess it's another one of Ford's better ideas.
