Fuel return line

I sure would appreciate some help..My 96 E250-automatic-4,9L 6 cyl needs a fuel return line...can't find-obsolete part...and I can't do my service work.

Anyone with a suggestion on what to do -I would really appreciate it...Thanks

Can you help us out with where the line in question connects from where to where.
Does your vehicle have one or two fuel tanks. If i'm not mistaken, a black plastic type (synflex) is used for this. It has been a while since I saw exactly where it came from and where it went. The other problem is if the auto supply stores will be open for the 4th of July holiday.

If this is the line that comes from the fuel pressure regulator and returns fuel back to the fuel tank, depending on where the problem is you might be able to splice in a fitting until the entire line can be replaced, but at least if done properly it should work since there is not that much pressure on that line.

Just a reminder,
If it has a rubbed through or pinhole leak ,
and it is the black nylon type line, you can splice in a union ftg, but it must have the inserts that go inside each end then the nut and the ferrule on each end and they can be tightened securely. That type repair is considered temporary and will certainly hold the pressure. Just always be careful working around gasoline.

Fuel Line

The line has a small slice near the connection Its the black return line which ends at the engine connection.

It appears that fuel line is not available and obsolete? Thats hard to believe..no after market is listed..

I don't recall how the line is secured to the fuel pressure regulator, but (AND I DO NOT LIKE DOING THIS), Most auto supply stores carry "synflex tubing" 1/4, 5/16, 0r 3/8 diameter and the necessary correct fittings , you can splice in a new piece of the same size tubing , in the return line as a temporary measure and it will work until you can do the job completely. I have had success obtaining synflex tubing and the correct fittings from NAPA. Always remember to check your work when done for any leaks and don't operate the vehicle if there is the slightest possibility of a leak. It's low pressure going back to the tank.

I also see Advance Auto sells kits to make these repairs .
