Issues

Hey guys. I'm new to this thread and am having some problems with the used E350 I just bought with a few other people for purposes of touring in. Anyone ever have any issues with the front panel electronics heating up while driving? We've had the problem for a week now where the floor under the passenger seat heats up due to an exhaust issue, but now it seems the whole front panel where the CD player is is heating up as well. Cds are so hot when they come out of the player that they're hard to touch. Any suggestions are welcome, thanks!

There could be a few reasons for the unusual heat getting to the dash among which could be if the heater controls aren't shutting off the flow of heat.
Then there could be a problem with the exhaust system parts. You didn't say what year your vehicle was and there is a possibility depending on the year , the shielding between the catalytic converter and the floor may be absent or there is an exhaust leak in that area. Behind the engine adjacent to the firewall on some models are check valves and piping for the exhaust system. If that piping is rusted through there could be exhaust heat coming out there heating up everything.
If you can, remove the doghouse cover to gain access to the back of the engine, usually 2 clips and 2 bolts on the floor . If there is any problem there, with the engine running, you will be able to see and hear the exhaust leak if it is there.
There is also the possibility the unit with the Cds is creating the excess heat due to internal problems.
Once you check these things you will have a better idea of just what may be causing the problem.
