Lock replacement
I need to change all 4 door locks because I don't have a working door key only an ignition key and a aftermarket remote fob . I have seen prices ranging from $30 for all four which I assume is questionable junk to $100+ which I don't KNOW is actually worth the price difference. Does anyone have any actual experience with purchasing a good drop in replacement? If so, I would welcome recommendations as to what and from where to purchase. Thanks.

For what it can cost you to change all the lock cyls, , you might consider having a locksmith make you the keys you need.
A phone call to places like NAPA and locksmith would be the quickest and easiest way to at least get an answer on this. |

I thought about that but wasn't sure if they could "reverse engineer" keys to existing locks. A phone call to places like NAPA and locksmith would be the quickest and easiest way to at least get an answer on this. Thanks |
+1 on getting a replacement key made.
If you don't want to carry two keys you can likely get a single key to fit both. Years ago I had a Ford with mismatched door and ignition keys. I had a key made with the ignition cut on one side and the door cut on the other. I lost the ability to put the key in either side up but only had to carry one key. |
Depending on the year, Ford parts dept can cut replacement keys per your VIN with 'as built' data. It would require vehicle proof of ownership.

In addition,,,, lol,
Keys for some reason once in a while will lose coding or get misplaced and if you only have one key you wind up in that proverbial place without a paddle. Pretty sure if you have 2 good working keys, you can code up to 8 keys yourself if you choose. As you probably know you can get keys cut anywhere and they will open the doors ,but will not allow the vehicle to start unless they are coded to the vehicle. |
