power block

Alrighty then, changed the fuel pump, ran for 5 minutes, the mechanic say probably fuel pump relay, on the power distribution block. We cannot find the block. chilton book say engine compartment. two of us looked for over an hour and cannot find. BTW, no power to the new fuel pump and the van is a 1990 E 150 conversion van. we found the fuse block, all fuses are good, but cannot get power to pump. it did go about a mile and nada.

please, any ideas where they may have moved the relays and heavy draw block to. frustation is really setting in on this as it hauls my mobility scooter.

The EEC and Fuel Pump relays are the same type and are interchangable.
They should be located on the passenger side of the engine compartment just over the battery mounted up on the firewall.
The EEC relay supplies power to the computer and the fuel pump relay.
Do you hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key on? It should run for approx 2 seconds then stop unless you start cranking the engine.
If one of the relays is defective switching them will not help. Can you tell us who switched the fuel pump?

local mechanic changed the fuel pump, and the pump did run twice, and then died. There is nothing llike a power block on the firewall at all, that I can see. I will go back out when the temp goes down a little and the sun drops behind the desert mountaines a little. About how big is the distribution block? deck of cards, a half brick, or whole brick?????

thanks for you help, hanky

Depending what has been done to handle the additional loads required by a patient lift assy, the relays each plug into a holder. They are about 1 inch square and about one to one and a half inches long and are black. Unless someone has relocated them they should be where earlier stated.
