Un-Converting my Van

Hi,
I wanted a plain vanilla work van, but all I could find had 200k+ and priced $2k more than I paid for this oldie with 60k miles. The van (Econoline 150 Mark 3) has a heavy wheelchair lift at the back doors. It’s not a high top, but I feel like I’m driving a bean bag chair. I will be hauling a fair amount of tools and stuff to help maintain a couple of rental houses. I have mixed thoughts about keeping the lift; it could be really handy for the occasional loading of bulky cargo. Is it reasonable to make some kind of suspension modifications to make this more of a work van?
Thanks for sharing your experience.
