2011 Ford Edge Batter Saver

I bought a 2011 Ford Edge used almost a year ago. My battery saver light kept coming on recently. Battery was dead. Heard clicking noises in fuse box area. Took it into the dealer for service and was told needed a new battery. Light came on less than a month and then again battery was dead. again heard clicking noised under the hood lights flashed inside car on dashboard. Took back to the dealer they couldn't find the problem. Stated battery was good. Now again the battery saver light came on, states to turn off ignition, (which I have key is out) or turn on engine. I now have to go back to the dealer again and hope my car starts in the morning to get me there. Anyone having this issue or know what it can be? Sounds like electrical and hard for them to pin point.

I believe it goes something like this,
There are several modules in the vehicle , some of which are the Body control module, the Instrument panel module and a few more. There is a battery saver relay that is controlled by the BCM which gets inputs from various body sensors via the BCM. Something is causing the relay to flutter due to a signal usually from the BCM. The problem is to find where that signal is originating and go from there. A Ford dealership has the scan tool (IDS) to determine which module may be causing the problem. Sometimes it can be located right away or it can take some time. After they correct the problem ask what caused it , for your own info and it would be nice if you could share the info with us here on the forum. Thanks

Same problem still exists. Brought it home from the dealer the last time was told I left the dome light on. Highly unlikely. That is something I would have notice. Again back to the dealer today for the same problem.

Battery Saver Light

ok looks like it was the APIM module which was killing the battery so we shall see if this is what it was from the beginning.

Thank You for sharing that info with us !

Not the APIM! Back to the dealer for the 5th time. Now they are saying radio, module behind it. Anyone know what this module might otherwise be called?

If it is the radio, they may wind up replacing the radio itself. It seems to be a common problem with their radios, and we often ask why a module in the radio, but that is the price of progress with a radio that can do many things.
