Ford Edge Side Mirror

I am looking for a part for our 2011 Ford Edge Limited, door mirror, passenger, RH side. I keep getting asked to choose "thru 1/23/2011" or "from 1/24/2011". I don't know what this means and if it is production date, shouldn't specifying the VIN in the parts search determine that. THE VIN is 2FMDK3KC9BBA41566

FYI, I asked this of Ford directly on the website and did not get a valid answer, they just said order off their site. But no explanation about the January 2011 date.

Please help!

The production date is important since changes are made during the model year. That date can be found on the label either on the inside edge of the driver's door or the door pillar(post) that the door latches on.

So they are asking for production date.

And this is not coded into the VIN at all?

No , it is not!
Certain modifications are made during production and that is why the production date is so important. The vin can be assigned to a chassis going down the assembly line and by the time it gets a modification change the only way to know is by the production date.
That is how they know which vehicles are involved in any recalls because they know when the changes were made.

Thanks, I'm not near the veh but trying to get daughter or s-i-l to have a look. I would think there would be a website you could enter the VIN and it would also be able to tell you the production date.

OK, my daughter sent me a pic of the label. Nothing actually says "Production Date", but in the upper left there is an ambigous "date" which only says 10/10. So does that mean October of 2010 or October 10th of 2011 (the year of the vehicle)?

Why the eff they could not print the entire date is beyond me.

Anyway, the pic is posted so hopefully you can help me with this.

Thanks again.

When you get back to the parts person give them that date of 10/10. It would just mean you have an earlier version before 1/23/11.
