Issues starting after getting gas
 

We have a 2015 Ford Edge SEL 2.0 that is showing code P1450 - Unable to Bleed Up Fuel Tank Vacuum. Everything we have seen online says to replace the Purge Valve which we did (Part number F2GZ-9D289-A) however we are still having issues. Anytime we put gas in the vehicle it will not start and takes several attempts. When it starts everything feels sluggish for a few moments and then it is fine. The problem repeats every time we put gas in. Is there another part we need to look at replacing?

If it is of any help, the purge valve only works after certain conditions are met and they cannot be met until the vehicle has been driven some and bla, bla.

What should be checked is , the vent valve which could be dirty, stuck in the closed position or a few other morsels.

Is that located underneath the vehicle connected to the canister or am I thinking of something else?

Underneath the rear of the vehicle , usually over the differential.

Figure it’s worth a shot, ordered a new one. Hopefully that corrects the issue.

When you receive the part you ordered, please check and see where the part was made. If made in the USA, you have a chance of a quality part that will work .

It’s a Dorman, so should be!

There shouldn’t be anything else to take off when installing this part, correct? From what I’ve seen it looks like there is a hose to take off and then it just twists and comes out of the canister. Hopefully it’s that simple lol.

Curious if replacing the vent valve solved your issue? Also, would you happen to have a picture of the part/part number for reference? I have the same issue with my 2016 edge. Thanks!

Considering it would have been nice if the gentleman got back to us ,but they just forget. Very likely if it didn't work ,they would have come back and let us know.

Many times the vent valve is exposed to all kinds of dust, dirt and what not due to it's location.so it is no wonder they plug up.

A good thing to keep in mind is that when fueling and the nozzle shuts off, DON'T continue to add more fuel to get all you can in there. That can create problems with the vapor recovery system. When over filled it now sends liquid through the vapor system and contaminates the vapor canister and now that sends charcoal granules through out the system and is good for a shop that is looking for extra work.
