Water Pump is located WHERE????

Oh My God. I just got a call from my dealer, I took my 2008 Edge in for 70,000 mile service. He called back and told me the water pump was leaking and needed to be replaced. No problem, right?

Water Pump: $160
Labor: $2,240 ---- YES this is correct.

This is what my Ford Dealer Service quoted me.

Apparently the genius that designed this engine put the water pump in the Timing Chain HOUSING - which means that basically you have to take the majority of the front engine out, a 12 hour job.

This is so ridiculous I can't even believe it's true, so I looked it up:

2008 Ford Edge Car Repair Estimate

This quote was about right when I called around to local service dealers.

Wish I had bought that extended warranty.:(
