I cannot open the door to my 2004 Ford Escape with the key or the remote. Has anybody got any suggestions?

 

[sm=welcomesign.gif]Sounds like the rod came disconnected on the lock assembelly.[hr]You can take it to the dealer or a locksmith or if you have some experence you can try it yourself.

 

change the battery in the remote

 

my moms won't open either well it opens sometimes and won't unlock others posted a thread about it. Goes in for third time to fix next week if they can't find it were calling the lawyer and calling ford about lemon law

 

Sounds to me like the lock motor is seized. This will definately cause the problem you're describing. Pop off the door panel and disconnect the rod from the motor and I'll bet it'll open with the key then.............

 

Had the same problem with left rear door. Now have the same problem with back hatch.

They use a relay to lock and unlock the doors. I believe it wears out just after the warranty expires.

Ford probably specified it to last about three years. Basically, we're screwed for the part and labor for all five doors every three years...
