2001 Escape V6 Engine Module
 

Has anyone replaced an Escape engine computer? The dealer wants $1100 to do it and needs 10 days to get one from a vendor. I can find a used module on ebay for $50, so the dealer seems more than a little pricey. However, I understand there's some sort of programming involved to get the ignition keys to work with the new module. I've never done this before and there's surprisingly little in the way of instructions on youtube or anywhere else. Is it a simple matter of plugging in the new module and a 2 minute procedure to sync up the chip in the keys, or is there a lot more to it than that?
