2003 Ford Escape Key Programming
2004 Ford Escape (build date 2003), we only got one key with the car and want to program a second one and a spare... I've seen many people say that it will have to go to the dealership. I have Forscan with an extended license. Can I just order two new chip keys, get them cut, and then go through the "erase and program" in Forscan? Then using the 2 new keys as masters, add the old key back in we already have using the two keys to add a spare?

If you've got forscan you should be good to go. Thats exactly what I would do at the dealer to program more keys. Just make sure they do turn in the ignition before erasing the key from memory.

I think when I do this, just in case, I'll go sit at my local dealership's back lot and program them there :D. That way if for whatever reason it doesn't work, I'll just fill out a drop off envelope, throw it in the box, and call them in the morning haha.

Update: I ordered up the keys on Amazon, had my son (who works at Home Depot) copy the cut from the one original, and made sure they worked in the ignition. They did, so I took my laptop and the keys with, went and parked in my local dealer's back lot at night haha. I deleted all keys in forscan, then programmed each one back in. After a nervous 10 seconds of them not working, the first one worked, so I drove it home. Tested again when I got home, and all 3 keys worked! Wahoo! Cheap solution to the single key issue. I also added a couple more fobs which was super easy of course. Success!
