2006 Ford Escape Shifter

Hey, shadetree techs. I have a 2006 Escape, the problem that I HAD was a shifter that would not come out of park. So I removed the shifter and found the solenoid wasn't working properly.(Solenoid is not a replacement part). I removed the spring behind the plunger (silver in color) that activates the solenoid, used duck tape to secure the plunger to the body of the solenoid, and found out that you now have bypassed the switch that will allow you to shift out of the park position. Keep in mind that by doing this you will not have to put your foot on the brake to remove it out of the park position. This saved me at least $250.00 not having to purchase another shifter. The Escape works fine. :D
