2015 Ford Escape se Whistle sound driving under 25mph and while in reverse
recently bought 2015 Ford Escape se and about a week ago it started to make a whistling sound while driving under 25 mph and if I put it in reverse after driving a few miles. The sound can be heard coming behind the steering wheel and if I open up the hood you can hear it too. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Vacuum leaks can cause a whistling sound and so can exhaust systems.
Unfortunately, there are vacuum lines all over the vehicle and also exhaust system parts.
Do you think you could be a little more specific as to the location where it is loudest?

When sitting get inside driver seat the loudest is right behind steering wheel area and if outside car under the hood it seems to be coming from top right area near or under the battery area. When driving slow you can hear it then if I park and put it in reverse it becomes more noticeable.

Your vehicle has a vacuum brake booster and I am beginning to suspect a vacuum leak in the area of the booster that is located on the other side of the firewall just above the steering column and that may be why you hear it inside . Either a hose is cracked, loose or there is a possible problem with the booster itself. They don't usually give very much trouble. Do you hear the whistle for a couple seconds after you shut off the engine?
Does applying the brake have any influence on the whistle?

Nope it goes away right when I shut the car off or If it put it back into the drive position. If I start driving at a low speed I will start to hear it again. If I brake while driving at a lower speed I can still hear the whistle sound.

Because different people will describe the same sound differently , So far it could be a vacuum leak, front wheel end problem or something we didn't think about.
Could it be a type of squeal that you describe as a whistle sound?
At this point without being there to actually hear it It is difficult to classify what would whistle in reverse and only around 25 MPH going forward .
One more question for now , does it get louder when you turn in any direction?

Sounds the same in every turn and it sounds just like a teapot whistle. And it only makes the sound in reverse if I have been driving for at least a couple miles. If I turn the car on in the morning and go in reverse it’s fine, but if I drive 5 minutes then go into reverse the sound will be there. But when I drive under 25mph the sound is always there doesn’t matter if it’s 30 seconds into driving or an hour.
