Correcting date on display in 2008 Ford Escape
I got in my 2008 Escape Hybrid today and noticed that the date on the display said "Jan 2, 2004". Thought that was odd, but figured I could update it in the same way I'd update the time. It lets me scroll through the calendar, but I don't see anywhere to correct the date it displays. And I don't see anything about setting the date in the manual. Am I missing something?
How is the date set in the display? And should I be concerned that my Escape traveled back in time? Thanks! |
This is exactly what happened to me yesterday and I can't figure out how to change the date either. I hope someone here does.

OMG! I am in the same boat. Today (Aug. 20, 2023) I turned on my 2008 Ford Escape and the date says Jan. 4, 2004. The time is right but the date is wrong. Since it's happened to all of us, there is obviously something going on.
My Escape also started shuddering while accelerating today, but now I'm guessing the two aren't connected. Are either of you having any mechanical problems as well? Mine is obviously going into the garage ASAP because of this other issue. If they know what's going on with the 2004 date, I will update. How weird!!! |
Me too.
Just started my 2008 Ford escape and have the same issue with my calendar date
|
Wow, this is very strange! I have no mechanical issues but I sure would like to know what is causing this "glitch" for us.
Please let me know if you find anything out Thanks so much! |
Wow! Well, at least it's not just me, I guess. Did they not think the Escape would make it this long when they programmed the computer? Is this what we worried about with Y2K? ;)
Hope we can find a fix for this. |

What's especially weird is that it reset itself to a date years before our cars were even produced! I'm dropping my car off at the dealer for repairs regarding my acceleration vibration today, and I'll tell them about the date problem. It's helpful to know that it's a widespread issue, so thanks for starting the thread. If I find out anything, I'll post, but I'm guessing they're going to be as mystified as we are. |

Date is wrong for me too!
This has happened to me too! I have a 2008 ford escape hybrid with the navigation display. Does the escapes wo the navigation display the date or just the time? I can scroll through the date so I tried to scroll to today, it would only let me scroll to Dec 2014. At that month the ‘Next’ is grayed out. I’m now at January 6, 2004.

I was curious seeing people with the generation 2008-2012 Escapes were getting the incorrect date on their displays, so i looked at my 2011 Escape AWD LTD and it must be a different display than others.
I have a time, direction, temp....but NO DATE. Maybe seeing i have the premium sound package?? Pictures attached with car running and with the radio power on and radio power off, Either way nice to not have the issue as once i know something isn't quite right it drives me crazy.... I had AM radio on as yesterday we have a major traffic accident i needed information on, i usually listen to sat radio (news) or FM. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...036752a1b4.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...6872516f4a.jpg |
