Electric window stuck down. Help?

The rear window on my 2008 Ford Escape is stuck in the down position and will not roll up. I can pull the window up with my hands but it just falls back down. I took the door panel off and the motor seems to be working fine. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks!

If the motor works fine but the window doesn't move it is probably because the plastic "ladder" inside the regulator is broken.
Look at some images of "Window regulator".

Caveat emptor: I have never fixed a broken power window myself.

I fixed one on my Cougar - the motor was running fine but you could hear it "slipping" as if it was trying to lift the glass to no avail. You need to take the motor out and open the worm gear enclosure. If Fords still makes them the way it used to in 1994 :-), you should see a plastic wheel that has three plastic "barrels" inside, linking it to the shaft that goes out to the window arms. These barrels' purpose is to absorb shocks caused by the motor upon start and stop, but they wear and eventually make the motor slip. You should be able to find spare barrels on eBay or any respectable parts store.
