Ford Escape jerks horribly while accelerating

It is 2015 Escape with only 10,000. It jerks while accelerating. Sometime at low speed but sometime at high speed too. The problem exists since two years ago. I sent it to Ford Dealer once and was told they cannot reproduce the problem.

Can anybody here give some idea which might be the issue? Thanks all

engine misfire....check for codes or flashing mil

hanky 01-10-2018 03:23 AM

Ford has been having problems with their "Drive by wire" components.Does it always seem to be at the same accelerator position?

zxdzxd0826 01-10-2018 06:16 PM

It seems at the same acceleration position, around 15 miles/h. But somehow also happens on highway, 70 miles/h when there is no acceleration even.
The engine light not on. Is there still code for engine misfire? Thanks

Certain conditions have to be met for a code to cause the "MIL" malfunction indicator light , to illuminate. Instead of trying to guess what a code could be , it is better to have the system checked for history codes and possibly go from there. If it is the "Electronic Throttle Body" it may not set a code. FYI , P0300,P0301,P0302 etc would be a code for the particular cyl misfire.

Ford Escape jerks under load in traffic

I was having a similar issue with my 2014 Ford Escape Titanium w/130K miles and after a year I finally solved the issue. We tried changing spark plugs, plug wires, but changing the transmission fluid was finally the thing
that resolved the issue. It had gotten so bad I was shifting into low in traffic just to keep the RPMs up. And on one occasion I swore someone had hit my car it banged so hard. Now its running smooth as ever.
If you're having a similar issue try a transmission fluid flush and see if it helps. Cost was about $150.

We hesitate to recommend a trans flush for the following reasons, ,
Clutch material and other wear particles accumulate in the bottom of the trans pan.
A drain , change filter , clean accumulated garbage from pan and reinstall and refill does not allow the garbage to circulate throughout the valve body with the potential to cause all sorts of problems especially in older vehicles that were not serviced regularly. All you need is for one valve to get hung up or not work as fast as it should and a trans rebuild is in your future.
Never hurts to get a second or third opinion.
