ignition coils
 

My 2012 ford escape has 126000 on it. I bought it new and didn't have any problems with it except a hole in the radiator. I realized other than tires,oil, filters, rotors and brakes I haven't kept up with the other maintenance items so I changed all my fluids and other recommended items for service. Should I change out my ignition coils too? Have no problems at all with the car, no engine light, rough idling, hesitation,etc. Or should I just wait until a problem arises? I replace things with Motorcraft parts.

You might consider picking up one coil. That way, if you need it it will immediately be available, otherwise it could never become a problem.

That way you cut possible expenses by half and better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

You can have hundred of DTCs without a CEL. You will need a scanner that can retrieve Ford's specific DTCs like Foxwell NT510 Elite.

That's a massive waste of money you could have spent elsewhere. You don't need Motorcraft brand on everything, maybe 50% but not 100%.

Why you want to change out the coils? You have misfire or what? For the peace of mind you change all the spark plugs, not the coils as the coils should last 3 times longer than the plugs. If you are having issues with the coils then you are urged to change them both at a time.

Depending on where you purchase your parts, usually, Motorcraft parts are more reliable than A LOT of imported parts many of which are defective right out of the box.

Something to keep in mind, check where your parts are made. If from riceland, you might pay less, but the quality just is not there.
