Posible Faulty Coolant Temp Sensor

So right before this previous Thanksgiving eve after my shift at work, I automatically started my 2014 Escape Titanium AWD 1.6. I went to hop in and got the high temp warning safely pull over.So I left it at work and 2 days later after Thanksgiving, I started it and still high temp readin, pull over. I had it towed to Ford and they let it sit from Friday to Tuesday. When they started it they got no warning and said I could come get it. Baffeled I went and took it.Now come this morning I auto start it and get the same thing. And I've been using it regularly since the Thanksgiving problem. If its just coming in and ot like that, is it safe to assume the temperature sensor is bad? This also happened in August, back then they said it was just a hiccup in the system, I had the coolant flushed the week before
